This is my LJ for posting book reviews of books I have something to say about. I currently plan on it being mostly non-fiction. I do read & enjoy fiction, but I don't generally have a lot to say about it that I want to spread to other people.

I'm female, work full time as a computer tech, in my 30s, currently have no kids, am married. Comfortable middle class, have been all my life. That gives a snapshot into the world view I'm seeing as I read & write reviews.

I get most of my books from two sources: Library/rummage sales and the online book swapping site Paperbackswap (linked as my web page). The latter is the best online swap site I've seen, and looks like it will actually stick around. It's also the most expensive place I get books, since it costs a bit over $2 to ship a book and I pay <$1 for books at the local book sales. I'm lucky. :)

I read a wide variety. I like history through the viewpoint of an object (bananas, for example) or just the history of items (how'd the pencil come to be?). I discovered I like food writing (but not restaurant reviews). Women's studies books (though I prefer the non-heavily academic in general) also make up my reading list. I enjoy many column collections--I finally decided that was a "genre" to me given the variety I was reading with that common thread. For fiction I seem to prefer older mysteries right now, but I have wandered through sci-fi, paranormal romance (I'd read more if more were good). About the only thing I adamantly do not read are gorey/horror/really dark books.
